Yes I know, a Tuesday again, but due to my IMS exam yesterday, certain things take priorities. Apologies. But to make up for it, there's a big mix of massive songs for you today.
Bombay Bicycle Club - Ivy & Gold
The sound quality is not great on this video, however it is still plain to see how unbelievably gorgeous this track is. Ivy & Gold is taken from BBC's new acoustic album, released in July, ironically called Flaws. Huw Stephens played a couple of other tracks out on his show this week, and they are all stunning. It is clear that these boys' have talent in abundance, but what is nicer is that they are making music that they want to make, not their label, or what they feel they have to make. Without going all MGMT on us. Beautiful track from an incredible band, can't wait for the album.
Medicin - Summer Drummer (Rollz Remix)
If it's some drum and bass you want this summer (which I wouldn't usually say I do) then it has to be this track. It's got the speed and beats of DnB, yeah with some lovely acoustic rifts underneath and I think it works superbly. (Apologies for Zane Lowe chatting all over it.)
Example - Kickstarts
Having been a fan of Example for a good few years, it is easy to say that he's coming along way from You Can't Rap. Now, I'm not saying he's sold out, but he hasn't not sold out. THAT'S ALL I'M SAYING. His recent releases have been OK and listenable, yet Kickstarts really caught my attention. It's so simple. A simple bassline, a simple synth loop and he's pretty much speaking over the track. I think it all comes together nicely, I'm not saying it's groundbreak, but it's nice for summer.
Chiddy Bang - Truth
Now I'm not quite sure what to make of this band, but after hearing Opposite of Kids they caught my attention. In Truth they sample the incredible Passion Pit, taking nothing away from the original but creating something completely different. I think it's a bit of fun and I like it.
