Music Monday 54.

Luke Christopher ft Asher Roth - Roof Tops

I've always said that Asher Roth's I Love College hit will always be to his deteriment, it lead people to believe that he is just a one-hit chart rapper. But listen to the rest of the album, listen to his mixtapes, and you will quickly see that he is more than a sing along chorus, he's got skills along with a catchy beat. This time he teams up with Luke Christopher, an 18 year old with many talents it would seem. Catchy little tune, just a tad too short.

Big Sean - Hometown

By the way of endorsers, Kanye West is not a bad way to go, and that's exactly who Big Sean has got behind him screaming he's the next big thing. I've only gotten around to listening to him recently and I like. And what a really like in hip hop is a good sample. Maybe he can be accused of jumping on the Adele bandtown, but he's used the sample well and put some tidy rhythms over the top.

Foster The People - Pumped Up Kids

This dreamy California indie pop sound is from Foster The People from, err, California. This song is perfect for some summer evenings and it looks like some bright things are to come from this band.

Chiddy Bang - Too Much Soul

As far as pop hip-hop goes, there's few better than Chiddy Bang. The single from their latest mixtape Peanut Butter and Swelly samples Hockey, Chiddy Bang do like a cheeky sample in their songs. Chiddy Bang also teamed up with Big Sean on a version on this, check it out.

Kings of Leon - The Immortals

It looks like The Immortals will "the slow song" off of new album Come Around Sundown, and yet another sign that they might be sneaking back to the old stuff with their new found fanbase. It's a lovely track, not the best or most beautiful that they have produced, but still a nice listen.

Ray Davies & Mumford & Sons - Days/This Time Tomorrow

This is lovely combination of Mumford & Sons with Ray Davies, aka The Kinks' frontman. The Mumford boys are offering this controbution to Davies' new solo album, and the combination is simply wonderful. It's nice to hear something a bit new from M&S after listening to Sigh No More a million and one times. Also check out their trip to India and the EP they released with Laura Marling and the Dharohar Project, it's weird but very wonderful, with an excellent documentary of the trip on Youtube.

Chiddy Bang - The Good Life

Chiddy Bang's new album The Preview leaked this week, and although there's some great new tracks on it, see above. But there's a good few tracks off of The Swelly Express, on what is a relatively short album. The new tracks are good, but really don't live upto the genius of Truth or Opposite of Kids.

Kanye's Corner
Kanye West ft. Jay-Z, RZA, Pusha T, Swizz Beatz & Cyhi The Prynce - So Appalled

Kanye West ft Kid Cudi, Pusha T, John Legend, Lloyd Banks & Ryan Leslie - Christian Dior Denim Flow

No-one quite knows if Kanye has finished with his GOOD Friday phase of giving away a free track every Friday, each one with more artists on it than before, but as I said before, I don't think anyone is complaining. Head to Kanye's website to download them all for free. Let's just hope he lets all these rappers have some time to produce their own stuff, especially Kid Cudi.

Music Tuesday 7.

Yes I know, a Tuesday again, but due to my IMS exam yesterday, certain things take priorities. Apologies. But to make up for it, there's a big mix of massive songs for you today.

Bombay Bicycle Club - Ivy & Gold

The sound quality is not great on this video, however it is still plain to see how unbelievably gorgeous this track is. Ivy & Gold is taken from BBC's new acoustic album, released in July, ironically called Flaws. Huw Stephens played a couple of other tracks out on his show this week, and they are all stunning. It is clear that these boys' have talent in abundance, but what is nicer is that they are making music that they want to make, not their label, or what they feel they have to make. Without going all MGMT on us. Beautiful track from an incredible band, can't wait for the album.

Medicin - Summer Drummer (Rollz Remix)

If it's some drum and bass you want this summer (which I wouldn't usually say I do) then it has to be this track. It's got the speed and beats of DnB, yeah with some lovely acoustic rifts underneath and I think it works superbly. (Apologies for Zane Lowe chatting all over it.)

Example - Kickstarts

Having been a fan of Example for a good few years, it is easy to say that he's coming along way from You Can't Rap. Now, I'm not saying he's sold out, but he hasn't not sold out. THAT'S ALL I'M SAYING. His recent releases have been OK and listenable, yet Kickstarts really caught my attention. It's so simple. A simple bassline, a simple synth loop and he's pretty much speaking over the track. I think it all comes together nicely, I'm not saying it's groundbreak, but it's nice for summer.

Chiddy Bang - Truth

Now I'm not quite sure what to make of this band, but after hearing Opposite of Kids they caught my attention. In Truth they sample the incredible Passion Pit, taking nothing away from the original but creating something completely different. I think it's a bit of fun and I like it.
