Music Friday 17.

I know I've been sloppy these past few weeks, but I have excuses in the form of working night shifts and preparing to go to New York next week. So here's a real quick catch-up of some big tunes. No words, just music.

Kanye West Ft Beyonce & Charlie Wilson

Ok, I know I said no words, but seriously, the lyrics in this song are incredible. Listen.

Cee-Lo - Fuck You

Best Coast - Boyfriend

Kanye West Ft Jay-Z - Power (Remix)

Kid Cudi - Mr Rager

Mark Ronson - Bike Song

We Are The Ocean - Playing My Heart

LISTEN UP!

Fifa 11: A Must Have

As it always is, the new Fifa looks like a must have.

Sky-diving ostrich, neither spots nor stripes.

This is the new A Glass and A Half Full Production from Cadbury's. Cadbury's Dairy Milk have stepped up their advertising game massively in the last few years, with the Gorilla advert becoming one of the most famous recent adverts, both on TV and virally. However after the Gorilla and the Airport Race, I felt that the adverts were lacking something, the latest Spots vs Stripes more so than any other. As my friend pointed out, it comes across as lazy and obvious, using a game and lazy. This is the strategy I would expect of some brands, and for some it is perfect, yet not for Cadbury's.

The new Ostrich advert is simple yet makes you smile and you enjoy the advert, with yet another perfect musical choice. The advert was intended to create a warm feeling that replicated the enjoyment of eating Cadbury's Dairy Milk, and I think it really does, as much as it could anyways.

Heineken: Lads.

I only just saw this advert after the football tonight, however considering the amount of views it has had, it's been around for a while. But for the first time, I really enjoyed it. It's far from the most clever or creative of adverts, but it was never intended to be. It does exactly what it says on the er... bottle.

Jay- Z: Decoded.

For years now we have been listening to the writings and stories of Jay-Z in the (approx) 3 minute musical format. That is now to change as Jay-Z, at last, decides to bring out his memoirs. The obvious title "Hard Knock Life" won't be used, far too obvious and easy for Hov one feels, instead "Decoded" will be the title.

We can only assume that news of his idol, Justin Bieber, releasing a similar project has prompted Jay to release his own book full of interviews with him, his friends and his family from all different years and aspects of life. It's no doubt going to be an interesting read following Jay-Z from the Marcy Projects to becoming one of the most successful artists and powerful black people in the world. We can only hope that he takes his intelligence and creative writing talent to the pages format giving, what will undoubtedly be, an excellent read.

The only thing that remains to be seen is will there be any mention at all of Beyonce. I wouldn't count on it.

Hurley's Weezing

It's safe the say that Weezer's new album cover could not be more perfect. It may have always been the intention to call the album Hurley just to put his big, big, smiley face on the cover. Or maybe it was simply a genius after thought, either way I like. And so does everyone else. The internet (where 90% of Lost fans spend their free time) is loving it, much in the same way as their video for Pork And Beans got massive viral success:

Music Tuesday 16.

Apologies for the late posting, was out all yesterday and only just got around to it today. But please enjoy, there's a massive amount in it today!

Magnetic Man - I Need Air

I swear I posted this a couple of weeks ago or at least last week, but I didn't. So here it is. The incredible combination that rivals SHM, is that of Benga, Skream and Artwork, and has unsurprisingly produced an incredible piece of dance music. This song has such universal appeal that it will be played on every club night, and that is often the sign of a true dance hit.

Linkin Park - The Catalyst

Having only been on the internet for about a week, this video has clocked up a huge amount of views, not quite Gaga-worthy, but still impressive. Nevertheless, I'm not sold on this song. However, it is worth putting on the blog for a number of reasons though: 1) Hybrid Theory was the first "rock" CD I bought and therefore started the change in my music taste dramatically. 2) It is there first new song for a couple of years. 3) It is always good to see a band push themselves and try new things. So maybe this song will grow on me, I don't hate it but maybe I have grown out of LP somewhat.

Tenasnake - Coma Cat

Maybe it's my music taste diversifying or the dance scene changing, but this summer has produced a huge amount of dance hits that I cannot get enough of and this is just the latest. Tenasnake has the vibes of nineties trance beats and steel drums yet it has been brought right upto 2010 and is a fully accessible hit.

Junip - Always

Regularly readers will probably know I'm a massive Jose Gonzalez fan, but apparently not massive enough to know he had a band too. Junip is his Swedish folk band. They have only released a couple of EPs up until now, but an album is due in the next few months. As you would expect, the band gives Jose's magical voice more backing and a solid musical platform, yet it does not overtake him. Really really nice.

Shad Ft. Jermiside and Destruments - The Calling

Again regularly readers will have read me banging on about Canadian rapper Shad, and I will do so again. This track is actually a few years old but I only just stumbled across it and cannot stop listening to it, it's a gorgeous bit of hip hop. Watch a few videos of Shad on Youtube and you will soon see that the running theme across the comments is not just how talented this guy is, but the frustration at how unknown he is. Shad manages to stay away from rapping about hoes and ice, simply talking about life in general with clever metaphors and rhythms, some really inspiring stuff.

Life's Directions.

I dont really know what I want, I dont really know what I need,
I dont know what other people need.
Um, I feel confused a lot of the time,
not really knowing, you know, in what direction to go,
or what things to do or how to live my life properly.
Life is interesting, its a bit of a search.

Shad - 2007.

KANYE WEST IS ON TWITTER!

Yeah I know I mentioned this earlier, and there has been much excitement and some very random yet amusing Tweets from the king of shouting out loud. This week even more excitement was created curtosy of New York magazine as they team up some of their cartoons with West's Tweets, much to the internet's approval. Here's a few examples, I'm sure you'll enjoy them.

Also there's this:

I'm assuming that this is just some kind of video teaser. Or not. Kanye does what he wants. But I really like this video, something different and creative, what Kanye does best. I suggest reading the comments for a hotly contested religious debate.

Quite A Foursome.

This was always one of my favourite tracks off of Eminem's Recovery album, and with it featuring Rihanna it was always going to be a single and a big single at that. Now the video has been released I think it requires a bit of attention. Not a massive amount, but a fair bit.

The cast is the main selling point to this video, obviously Eminem has his part as does the ever-stunning Rihanna, however there are two familiar faces on show. Charlie from Lost/Hobbit from LOTR short-man Dominic Monaghan is either beating up or snogging the ever-hot Megan Fox, the lucky chap. Oh and there's a lot of fire too.

Always stay drenched.

Here's the latest offering from drench by CHI & Partners. I do love a drench advert, they always seem to have originality and creativity in abundance. This originality and creativity, as with any great advert, leads to the adverts being talked, blogged and tweeted about. People love them, and to get someone to love your advert is not an easy thing.

Ferrari 458 Italia: Design Perfection

This thing is a real beauty. And being able to reach 60mph in 3.5 seconds, in an impressive beast.

"I love it when a talk plan comes together"

A favourite ad campaign of mine, over the past few years has been Orange's work with films, the "Don't let a mobile phone ruin your movie" campaign. In the latest offering Orange join up with The A-Team to bring you The O-Team (apologies for poor quality):

In the trailer we discover that Mr T doesn't have to get in a plane after all and that Hannibal loves it "when a talk-plan comes together". This adverts are always funny and fresh for each film, poking fun at their own corporate image and often actors and films at the same time. A great partnership.

Music Monday 15.

Week missed due to post-21st birthday recovery. So let's get back on it.

Young The Giant - My Body

Only just found out about this band, and apart from knowing their from California, I know nothing about them. Oh well it doesn't matter, great bit of indie rock for the summer.

Duck Sauce - Barbra Streisand

The combination of A-Trak and Arman Van Helden in the form of Duck Sauce is quickly becoming one of my favourite production teams of the moment. After the undeniable bangers that were Anyway and The Motion, Barbra Streisand is dance perfection. It's almost painfully simple, yet painfully addictive. The track knows exactly when to kick in, back off and then just simply smack you in the face. Seriously, seriously good stuff.

Ellie Goulding - Lights (Messed Remix)

Yet another Ellie Goulding track to be given the remix treatment, and yet again it works. The original song still has a strong presence on this track yet it has been given such new energy, it is an entirely new track. And boy is it a track!

Caspa ft Mr Hudson - Love Never Dies (Back For The First Time)

Unsure on this. LOVED the original from Caspa, one of my favourite tunes of the summer, but to add Mr Hudson's vocals over the instrumental is a risk. It's difficult to tell if it pays off, a lot of people say it's a grower. Gonna have to wait and see.
