The Superbowl is not only the big show of the world's (actually, just America's) favourite sport, but it is also the big show for advertising. With advertising rates, reportaetly, reach a crazy $100,000 a second, it is only the big boys that can afford to play this game. And boy did they step up to the mark (is that a baseball reference? sorry). Here's a few of my favourites from this year.
Volkswagen
Chrysler
Coca-Cola
Pepsi
Chevy
Brisk

May The Force Start Your Car.
This ad is really great. It's showing off probably the most pointless function of a car, but in all honesty, who cares? Judging by the amount of Youtube views, clearly not many people.
VW do it again.

A Few Ads...
Here's a few ads that have caught my attention recently. I would apologise for not posting them sooner but we all know that nothing happens in the surreal Christmas/New Year period.
Lynx:
Carlsberg:
(I've got a feeling that this ad is a little too clever and will only work in the viral space rather than the traditional print medium which is actually is. But still a cool idea, and if it works virally, then so what?)
Anti-Smoking: (Press CC for subtitles, unless you speak Russian)
Kagatani:
And because a VW advert is always worth a watch:

VW: Tough And Beautiful.
Tough and Beautiful. From the experience of working on a campaign for my portfolio where a brand attempts to embody opposites is difficult. It seems to always be more of one thing than the other. And if it's not, it's a cliche. And cliches in advertising and pointless. And used far too often.
This advert for VW Polo stars two of the world’s best Tango dancers, Gasper Godoy, Argentinean Tango World Champion, and partner Manuella Rossi, the world number two. The stunning chroegraphy is enhanced by filmography, it's gritty, powerful and strong stuff, exactly what VW were aiming for.

VW: We're All The Same. True.
VW have constantly pushed themselves away from the crowd in terms of the standard of their advertising. Though this ad is far from groundbreaking it taps into the human truth that, at the end of the day, we're all the same. Ish.
In a world when being different is constantly strived for, and rarely achieved, it's nice to be told that it's ok to be normal.
